True. 

When I was a kid I had a pretty large three wheeler with real bike wheels. It was 2WD and had no differential. The tyres sqweeked at tight turns but it worked great actually. If keeping the track narrow and requirement for turning radius not too tight it may work? I think the Mochet velocar quad had the same concept - 2WD, narrow rear track and no differential at all.
