Riders,

My Sun distributor had a Tomahawk on sale so I grabbed one. Surprisingly
nice bike. Cromo frame & fork. Okay lower end Shimano components,
Tektro mini"V" brakes, Jetset wheels & Kenda Kwest tires.

I immediately upgraded a few components (moved upstream to SRAM X-5/9
spd shifters, brake levers & derailler), installed a 9 spd chain,
kickstand and water bottle cages. Also swapped out the stock flat bar
with a preying mantis bar from a Challenge Hurri. Oh yeah, and I swapped
the 8 speed cassette for a new Shimano 12-36 "29er" 9 spd for a bit more
low end. If the bike stays in the shop a while longer, I'll likely swap
out the idler for a TerraCycle and install reflex sidewall tires.

This bike gets down the road. The seat is easily adjustable and
supportive. With preying mantis bars installed and raked seat back, the
Tomahawk has an "aero" riding position. It climbs well and high speed
handling is like the bike's on rails. Low speed handling reminds me of a
Rotator Pursuit, another tiller steering California LWB. The Tomahawk is
no Tour Easy, arguably the best handling LWB bike in the market, but a
competent handler. I'll sell this upgraded bike for $1050 plus delivery
& sales tax (if applicable). If I install Schwalbe/Primo reflex sidewall
kevlar belted tires and Terra Cycle idler, price goes up $150.

Photos soon - e-mail if you want to see the Tomahawk pics.
