Mark, I did find the APC electric props to be more efficient than the
standard. They seem to have a wider section closer in, so that might be the
reason. APC also makes a wide version of their standard prop in 12X10W which
is quite robust and slightly more efficient than the standard 12X10, and
there may be other "W" to explore depending on your gearing and what your
goals are. I also found the wooden zinger 10X6XW (extra wide) to be at least
if not better than the comparable APCs. They are also much lighter, even
after a coating of epoxy to add strength and keep out moisture.
